Dear Madam/Sir
Introduction of new CargoWise ediEnterprise operating system at Sturrock Shipping
As part of our commitment to excellent customer service, I am pleased to advise that the Clearing & Forwarding Division of Sturrock Shipping will be adopting a new operational software system, to be supplied by leading software solutions company CargoWise.
CargoWise is a world class provider of high value supply chain management software for Logistics Service Providers. With more than 66000 users in 65 countries globally, CargoWise offers a deeply integrated logistics solution, ediEnterprise.
Implementation of the new system at Sturrock Shipping will not only enhance our status as one of the leaders in the industry, both in South Africa and internationally, but provide significant benefits for customers and business partners.
Chief amongst these benefits are greater transparency, more comprehensive and quicker reporting, greater accuracy, improved communication and all-round better service. Information will be available to customers and business partners on a real-time basis and, as much of the reporting is automated, delivery of reports will be seamless.
A change in operating system of this magnitude is clearly a major event in the life of any company, and for this reason we have opted to introduce the new system in stages. Thus, the changeover is scheduled for implementation in the Johannesburg branch on 1 September, with other branches – Cape Town, Durban and elsewhere – to follow at a later date. Similarly, the new system will initially offer reasonably limited functionality, with additional functions to be added in due course.
I wish to assure you that the Clearing and Forwarding Division at Sturrock Shipping is fully prepared for the changeover in Johannesburg on 1 September. A team of senior staff members has been exclusively devoted, over a period of several months, to understanding the new system, in conjunction with the CargoWise representatives in Johannesburg and customising it to suit our specific requirements.
In addition, all staff members in our Johannesburg branch have received full training in the new system.
Despite these preparations, we are aware that glitches can, and do, occur, during systems’ changeovers. Again, I wish to assure you that every precaution has been taken to ensure that we are in a position to ‘go live’ in our Johannesburg branch on 1 September and to deal with any problems that might arise.
I do nevertheless ask for your forbearance during the first few days of the changeover, in the sure knowledge that the benefits will become increasingly apparent to you once the new system is firmly embedded.
Should you have any queries or concerns regarding the new system, or in the event that you experience any problems during the implementation period, please do not hesitate to contact your Sturrock Shipping representative or myself. A dedicated “email helpline” – cargowise@sturrockshipping.com – has also been set up in the event that you wish to avail yourself of this opportunity.
Please look out for our new electronic ‘face’ coming to your computer screen soon.
We value your ongoing support.
